Pure Resources Limited has announced exceptionally positive metallurgical test results from its Garnet Hills Project in Western Australia’s Kimberley region. The company’s comprehensive testwork program, which involved a 2,800kg composite sample collected from 197 outcrop sites, showed that dense media separation (DMS) can deliver superior pre‐concentration performance. DMS produced garnet deportment exceeding 90% while subsequent reflux classification further upgraded the material to an andradite-rich product with final grades as high as 98%. The final composite product achieved an overall grade exceeding 92%, neatly aligning with industry standards for waterjet cutting and abrasive blasting markets. The technical tests indicated that two saleable fractions can be produced by the reflux processing route. The coarse fraction (particles between -600+180µm) fits standard blasting specifications, while the fine fraction (particles between -180+75µm) meets premium waterjet application requirements. Notably, the simplified, low-water and reagent-free flowsheet underscores the scalability and sustainability of the processing model. Additional tests using wet high intensity magnetic separation and advanced ore sorting techniques revealed further insights, though reflux classification proved most effective in maximizing product quality and selective gangue rejection. Beyond these encouraging metallurgical outcomes, Pure Resources Limited is initiating strategic collaborations with U.S. academic institutions and the Department of Energy. The company is exploring technologies to extract rare earth elements (REE) from industrial garnet, and discussions have commenced with thermal management suppliers, reflecting an ambition to develop downstream opportunities in the United States market. The company now plans to progress to bulk-scale testing and further process optimization, with additional evaluations including regrind trials on middlings and expansion to marble-hosted lithologies. The news suggests a bullish sentiment for the company.
