Hamelin Gold Limited has launched an airborne electromagnetic survey in Western Australia’s West Tanami Project under the WA Government Exploration Incentive Scheme. The survey, co-funded up to AUD 150,907, is designed to identify bedrock conductors within mafic-ultramafic intrusions that could host copper, nickel, and platinum group element sulphide mineralisation. Recent exploration work, including a US$500,000 non-dilutive funding from BHP Xplor in 2024, had earlier highlighted the presence of key geological indicators, setting the stage for this latest electromagnetic study.
The company’s work in the Tanami district marks the introduction of Proterozoic aged copper-nickel-PGE exploration into an area noted for its unexplored potential. During mid-2023, Hamelin Gold Limited recorded primary magmatic mineralisation in mafic-ultramafic intrusions, with targets such as the Hawkeye site already drawing attention. The Le Beau intrusive complex, a prominent feature that spans over 30 kilometres and believed to be 1.805 billion years old, has been identified as a prime candidate for further investigation. Advanced geophysical techniques, benefiting from the region’s shallow non-conductive cover and minimal interference from false positive anomalies, are expected to yield strong indicators of concealed sulphide accumulations.
Results from the survey are anticipated in September 2025, providing critical information that could lead to immediate drill target definition. Should high-priority targets emerge, further drilling is planned for late 2025, positioning the project as a significant stepping stone in the search for substantial base metal deposits.
