Encounter Resources Limited has commenced a 1,000 km² airborne EM survey at its Aileron Project in West Arunta. The advanced survey targets key mineral signatures and groundwater, with government co-funding enhancing its potential to identify breakthrough opportunities in copper, niobium, and critical rare earth elements.
Encounter Resources Limited has initiated an ambitious 1,000 km² airborne electromagnetics survey at its Aileron Project located in the West Arunta region of Western Australia. The survey, conducted via helicopter and employing the Xcite time-domain EM system on a 300m line spacing, is designed to detect conductive features that could indicate the presence of copper sulphide mineralisation. It will also refine targets for regions that may host niobium and rare earth element mineralised carbonatites, and even help identify groundwater resources for future operations. Notably, the initiative benefits from up to US$250,000 of co-funding through the WA Government’s Exploration Incentive Scheme, and its findings are set to complement the ongoing regional aircore drilling program and resource definition drilling at the Aileron Project’s Green deposit.
The company’s strategy has focused on leveraging high-impact geophysical data and drilling programs to unlock the mineral potential of its 100%-owned projects. Confirmed carbonatite discoveries to date have demonstrated that major fault systems within the project area act as conduits for mineralised magmas, resulting in high-grade zones at key structural intersections. Additional exploration activities in 2024 highlighted copper anomalies at regional targets, supported by prior diamond drilling and heavy mineral sampling results. Historical geochronology data have linked the Aileron Project’s magmatic formations with those found in significant mineral provinces such as the Gawler Craton, which is home to Olympic Dam and other major deposits.
