Amaero Ltd, a U.S.-based producer of high-value refractory and titanium alloy powders, has entered a new technical development collaboration with Auburn University’s National Center for Additive Manufacturing Excellence. This partnership will combine Amaero’s cutting-edge gas atomisation technology with Auburn’s expertise in additive manufacturing and materials analysis to drive continuous improvement in powder characterisation. Recent testing by Auburn University has confirmed that Amaero’s C103 powder meets ASTM F3635, Class B standards following a 2200°F niobium heat treatment cycle, while the Ti64 powder complies with AMS7015 and ASTM F3001 standards. These achievements satisfy the qualification conditions required by Velo3D in their strategic partnership and have led to initial purchase orders for 500 kg each of C103 and Ti64 powders, with shipments planned for the first quarter of FY2026. Additionally, an extra order of 1000 kg is expected to support critical aerospace and defense projects in the third quarter of calendar year 2025. The breakthrough is significant for the domestic additive manufacturing sector as Amaero’s success in meeting internationally recognised technical standards bolsters its reputation for quality and cost-effective production. This development not only strengthens its existing relationship with Velo3D—a leader in large-format metal 3D printing—but also positions Amaero favorably within a growing, competitive industry that supports an expanding supply chain in advanced manufacturing.
