Patagonia Lithium Ltd has reported impressive survey results from its lithium brine project in Argentina’s Formentera block. A Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) borehole survey at well JAM24-03, drilled to a depth of 346 meters, revealed exceptional porosity and fluid yield profiles. In the shallow aquifer, measurements showed a maximum total porosity of 41% and a specific yield reaching 28%. On average, the survey recorded 22% total porosity and a specific yield of 12%, figures that align closely with parameters used in the company’s earlier Mineral Resource Estimate of 717,000 tonnes of lithium metal equivalent.
The technical details of the survey provided further insight into the subsurface structure. Three distinct aquifer zones were identified with well-quantified porosity attributes: Zone 1 (25–101m) demonstrated peak porosities and yields, Zone 2 (101–306m) – characterized by porous sands with an average total porosity of 24% and an excellent specific yield average of 15% – and Zone 3 (306–364m) representing the clay zone with lower values. Additional lithological data from Alex Stewart Laboratory indicated increasing lithium assay values with depth, peaking at 421 ppm, and detailed measurement parameters included formation resistivity, gamma ray logs, and fluid conductivity.
