Metallium Ltd is making significant strides in the development of its first U.S. facility located in Chambers County, Texas. The company is advancing critical upgrades and infrastructure improvements at the site to enable commissioning by December 2025. Notable progress includes the procurement of essential e-waste pre-processing equipment such as size reduction, preheating, and material handling systems, along with long-lead items and mobile offices that facilitate site readiness. Electrical upgrades, site clearing, drainage adjustments, and environmental monitoring systems have also been implemented to create an optimized operating environment.
In a move that de-risks its launch, Metallium Ltd has secured a key commissioning feedstock by ordering 60 tonnes of metal-rich printed circuit board e-waste. This feedstock mirrors the facility’s anticipated long-term input profile, allowing for process tuning under practical conditions. Technical indicators from previous recovery testwork highlight impressive performance figures: a 100% gold recovery from feedstock grading 551 g/t Au, a 97% silver recovery at 2,804 g/t Ag, and a 98% antimony recovery from feedstock grading 3.13% Sb. These metrics underscore the potential efficiency of the Flash Joule Heating technology as the company moves toward full-scale production.
The advancement extends to permitting and compliance, with Metallium engaging specialist provider VaporPoint to ensure best-practice air and water quality systems are in place. The company is finalizing balance-of-plant engineering and integration design with top-tier engineering firm Hunt, Guillot & Associates, while also working closely with local utility provider Entergy Texas to secure long-term power capacity. Discussions with an adjacent landfill operator are progressing to secure appropriate pathways for solids residue, ensuring comprehensive adherence to environmental standards.
