Marmota Limited has launched its maiden RC drilling campaign at the Greenewood gold discovery, targeting 127 holes. With impressive daily progress and rising gold prices, this program seeks to double existing drilling data and unlock fresh growth prospects for their expanding Gawler Gold project.

Marmota Limited has launched its first drilling campaign at its Greenewood gold discovery, a key component of its broader Gawler Gold project. The new program targets approximately 10,000 meters of reverse circulation (RC) drilling spread across 127 planned holes with an average depth of about 79 meters. Drilling has already made strong headway, averaging over 300 meters per day, with operations slated to continue through July and into August. This initiative marks the first drilling activity at Greenewood since 2018, where only 8,245 meters of mixed-method drilling had been completed, primarily through earlier rotary air blast, RC, and diamond drilling programs. The Greenewood gold deposit is strategically positioned within Marmota Limited’s expanding portfolio, located roughly 35 kilometers northwest of the company’s flagship Aurora Tank gold deposit and approximately 30 kilometers northeast of the Challenger Gold mine. As part of the Golden Moon joint venture with Coombedown Resources Pty Ltd, Greenewood benefits from shared expertise and the growing momentum of the Gawler Gold project. Marmota’s underlying gold fundamentals have become even more favorable given that current gold prices, around A$5000, are nearly three times higher than the levels observed during previous drilling in 2018. The successful advance of the Aurora Tank deposit and other adjacent prospects enhances the potential for low-cost, open pit, heap leach gold production, thereby boosting the overall project’s economic appeal. The recent announcement offers mixed market signals. On the bullish side, the commencement of a comprehensive drilling program at an underexplored yet strategically located deposit, combined with robust gold prices and close proximity to proven high-grade discoveries, bodes well for future outcomes. The progress of the drilling operations and the strong technical advances in the broader Gawler Gold project further support investor optimism. Conversely, the bearish perspective may focus on operational risks typical of maiden drilling campaigns, such as variability in mineralization and the inherent uncertainties of early-stage exploration. Additionally, the execution of technical programs in a challenging exploration environment could present potential setbacks. Overall, while the technical indicators point to promising prospects, cautious optimism remains prudent as Marmota Limited navigates its expanded exploration efforts.
