Great Dirt Resources Ltd. announces promising lithium soil sampling results on its Pilbara tenement, revealing anomalies that suggest significant resource potential. Great Dirt Resources Limited has recently completed an initial soil sampling program on its Pilbara tenement E45/6863 in Western Australia. The company collected 83 soil samples along four survey lines, with each sample taken approximately every 200 metres from a depth of 10cm, across an area covering 67 km². The assay results revealed notable lithium anomalism in the southern half of the tenement, with lithium levels coinciding with elevated readings of aluminium, rubidium, and tin. These geochemical signatures are considered indicative of fractionation essential to the development of lithium–carbonate–trona mineralisation.
The tenement is strategically positioned in one of Western Australia’s most active mineral corridors, lying near established lithium projects and adjacent to tenure held by other resource companies. It is approximately 43km from a major hard-rock lithium deposit and near several historical sites where other minerals like tantalum and tin were previously explored. The lack of dedicated lithium exploration in the area so far adds to the potential upside, with historical work hinting at additional undiscovered deposits.
The company’s managing director, Marty Helean, noted that the preliminary findings suggest potential mineralisation zones that warrant further investigation, with a follow-up infill sampling program scheduled in the coming months. All samples were collected and processed following industry best practices, with accredited laboratory techniques and rigorous quality control measures in place. The comprehensive approach, supported by adherence to JORC Code standards and detailed geographical mapping using GPS coordinates, adds credibility to the initial positive signals.
Bullish sentiment builds on the excitement that this preliminary soil geochemical program has highlighted lithium targets in an underexplored area with limited historical work. The coinciding anomaly of lithium with other key elements and the strategic location within a well-known lithium region could provide a catalyst for a further drilling program, potentially unlocking significant value if future work confirms a viable resource.
On the flip side, the results remain preliminary and could be viewed as uncertain until additional infill sampling and follow-up drilling fully delineate the mineralisation. There is inherent risk in early-stage exploration, including the possibility that the geochemical anomalies may not translate into an economically useful deposit.
