Chilwa Minerals Limited Unveils Breakthrough High-Grade Heavy Mineral Sands Results at Mpyupyu Dunes, Boosting Resource Estimates and 2025 Scoping Study Outlook

Chilwa Minerals Limited unveiled robust assay results from its Mpyupyu Dune deposit, highlighting standout high-grade intervals from sonic drilling. The findings suggest resource quality upgrades and spark fresh optimism for exploration, offering intriguing value potential for budding traders.

Chilwa Minerals Limited has reported encouraging initial assay results from its sonic drill program at the Mpyupyu Dune deposit in southern Malawi. The company analyzed 1,208 samples from 111 sonic drillholes, totaling 867 meters of drilling across a 4‑km strike length. Several high-grade intersections were recorded, including 2.97 meters at 10.79% total heavy minerals (THM) with an interval of 1.62 meters at 15.36% THM, 2.80 meters at 17.44% THM with a 0.62‑meter interval reaching 19.83% THM, and notably, one drillhole registered 5.0 meters at 22.04% THM with a standout 2.0‑meter section at 44.22% THM from surface. These results reinforce the high-grade potential of the deposit's two sub-parallel lobate strandlines, historically referred to as the Mpyupyu Dunes, that form part of a larger mineral resource estimated at 19.9 million tonnes averaging 4.2% THM. The dunes specifically comprise around 3.5 million tonnes grading approximately 7.1% THM. The company’s transition from Aircore to sonic drilling has resulted in improved core recovery and thicker, higher-grade intersections than previously observed, enhancing confidence in drilling outcomes across multiple deposits within the project area. In addition to Mpyupyu, further exploration is underway at the Bimbi deposit, with assay results expected soon. Concurrently, TZMI has been engaged to commence work on flow sheet studies and mineralogical analyses, which will feed into an advanced Scoping Study aimed at refining the mineral resource model and possibly setting the stage for a Feasibility Study of the central zone prospects. Investors might view the detailed technical data and rigorous quality control used in the assay process—including a high percentage of core recovery, precise drillhole logging, and advanced laboratory analyses—as positive indicators of the project’s robustness. On the bullish side, the strong formation of high-grade mineralisation at surface and the systematic approach to expanding the resource base could signify considerable upside potential as the project progresses towards more advanced study phases. Conversely, the bearish perspective highlights typical exploration risks; while the drilling results are promising, uncertainties remain regarding the economic viability and scalability of further resource development, and future studies will be crucial in confirming these early indications.
