Ballymore Resources Limited has commenced deep drilling at its Dittmer project, targeting a major porphyry copper-gold deposit beneath a historic mine. Funded by a government CEI grant and following strong Stage 5 assay results, this program could significantly expand the resource base.

Ballymore Resources Limited announced the commencement of a deep drill hole at its Dittmer Project in North Queensland. The new drill target is a 1200m by 800m magnetic anomaly located beneath the historic Dittmer mine and is interpreted as a potential porphyry copper-gold intrusion similar to high-profile deposits in Eastern Australia. The drill hole, funded by a $250,000 Queensland Government Collaborative Exploration Initiative grant, is expected to take around 50 days to complete and follows the successful completion of the Stage 5 underground drilling campaign. The recent Stage 5 drilling program comprised fourteen drill holes, totalling over 3,150 metres, which all intersected the principal Duffer Lode structure. Notable results from the campaign include high-grade intersections such as 0.40m at 221.31 g/t gold, 70.2 g/t silver, and 2.71% copper, along with other intervals showing promising gold, silver, and copper values. This success has enhanced the understanding of the lode’s continuity and has supported the interpretation that the historic gold-bearing mineralisation may be sourced from an underlying porphyry system. Additional funding through a $150,000 CEI grant for an induced polarisation survey over the Andromache copper-gold target further bolsters the exploration program. Mapping, geochemical sampling, and geophysical surveys have already highlighted significant anomalies in copper and gold across the project, with drilling such as DTDD002, DTDD009A, and DTDD034 returning encouraging intercepts. These results, in conjunction with the planned deep drilling and upcoming assay results, set the stage for enhanced resource estimation and preliminary mining scoping studies. Investors can view the project’s prospects with optimism as the combination of government support, strong early technical results, and a robust exploration strategy points toward potential resource expansion. On the bullish side, the high-grade intercepts and the strategic targeting of a concealed, pipe-like mineralised system strengthen the case for a significant discovery that could add considerable value. Conversely, the bearish perspective notes that until further assay results and detailed resource estimates are confirmed, there remains exploration risk inherent to deep, concealed targets and potential variability in commodity prices.
