Aureka Limited has boosted its gold portfolio with a maiden resource at its St Arnaud Comstock Prospect—raising its global gold reserve by 19% and adding an exploration target of up to 116,000oz. Ongoing drilling could further enhance near-term production potential in Victoria.

Aureka Limited has announced a significant development at its St Arnaud gold project in Victoria, detailing a maiden inferred JORC resource at the Comstock Prospect that has boosted its overall global gold inventory by 19%. The reported mineral resource amounts to approximately 1.45 million tonnes at an average grade of 1.2 grams per tonne, equating to roughly 56,500 ounces of gold. In addition, the company has defined an exploration target ranging between 112,000 to 116,000 ounces of gold, which may also include potentially economic amounts of silver, estimated at around 100,000 ounces. The findings are based on extensive historical drilling data that includes a total of 120 drillholes—using air core, reverse circulation, and diamond drilling techniques—and have been supported by new diamond drilling programs currently underway. These drilling efforts aim to test for extensions in mineralization at depth and along strike of the historic open pit, which was last mined in the 1990s. With operating conditions that may lead to a more favorable permitting process due to the site’s location on a fenced-off public reserve and its proximity to existing third-party processing mills, the project has an attractive near-term production potential. In light of the strong gold price environment, the technical achievements highlighted in this announcement provide a clear rationale for Aureka Limited’s ambition to fully unlock value from hidden, advanced-stage exploration projects. The robust drilling data and positive JORC resource results underscore the company’s technical competence in resource estimation, which could further drive future updates to the resource base as additional drill results are integrated. From a bullish perspective, the increased resource inventory and additional exploration target add to Aureka Limited’s portfolio diversification and near-term production potential. The proximity to established processing infrastructure and the favorable positioning within a historically productive gold field also enhance the project's attractiveness for potential investors. Conversely, on the bearish side, the resource remains in the inferred category with uncertainties ahead regarding commercial viability and further drilling required to upgrade classification. As production remains in the future and further regulatory and technical challenges persist, some caution may be warranted among investors navigating early-stage exploration risks.
